Executive Team

Sinatra Matimelo – CEO
(full-time, South Africa)

Sinatra is based in Pietermaritzburg and is E3’s CEO. He is very hands on in managing and supporting our partnerships. Sinatra developed and is leading E3’s Emerging Leaders training programme, and he regularly visits our partners and helps with project design and development. He is currently a PhD candidate and his research is titled "Transnational migration and the Church’s contribution towards the livelihoods of migrants in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa”. This study has led him to engage in community-based research in Ghana, Uganda, Zambia, Lesotho, Germany and the USA.

Before E3, Sinatra was a banker and then went on to serve as Scripture Union Travelling Secretary for Northern Zambia. He then pursued his Bachelor of Theology Degree, and then served as a Church Pastor in Zambia for seven years. In 2002, Sinatra moved to South Africa to study a Masters Degree in Theology and Development. He served as School Principal of Gateway Christian School in Pietermaritzburg for six years. Sinatra is currently on the Pastoral Team at Kings Community Church. He is married to Audrey and they have two children.

Emmanuel Stambuli – Administrator (part-time, South Africa)

Emmanuel’s passion is to see Southern African nations become food secure through proper management of the environment and food security through agriculture. Emmanuel has completed his Master of Agriculture and will now embark on his 3-year PhD studies in Food Security. Previously he was an assistant administrator at Ka-Zakhali Private School in the Kingdom of eSwatini and an undergraduate student tutor at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, in the School of Agricultural, Earth and Environmental Sciences. He feels very privileged to be serving E3 part-time as our administrator and working with our partner projects on food security.

Phumzile Zuma – Programmes Coordinator (full-time, South Africa)

Phumzile is a qualified Social Auxiliary Worker, pursuing her degree in Social Work at the University of South Africa. Previously, she worked with survivors of gender-based violence at Abrina Esther House. She also worked as a Financial Adviser at Old Mutual and as a Community Business Facilitator at Zimele Wethu Foundation. Phumzile’s passion is for people facing poverty, health or emotional challenges, to be spiritually and emotionally restored through counselling and support – especially women and children affected by poverty and social and economic abuse. Phumzile will be serving at E3 as our Programmes Coordinator, mainly working with Back to School beneficiaries and on the implementation of the gender-based violence programme.

Sarah Smith – Marketing and Fundraising (part-time, UK)

Sarah works part-time for E3 Initiative, developing and coordinating our communications and fundraising strategy and activities. After studying International Business with French at Aston University, she worked in Marketing at Bible Society, and has since also worked for Redcliffe College, Habitat for Humanity and SAT-7. Sarah has a passion for making a difference through her work and specialises in charity marketing. She is actively involved in her local church and is secretary to Swindon Ice Figure Club. She is married to Matt and has two sons.

Trevor Finlay - Chairman

Trevor was brought up and lives in Northern Ireland. Having graduated from Queen's University with a BEng Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering, he spent several years working in the manufacturing sector before founding his financial services company - Vision Asset Finance in 1999. In 2006, Trevor travelled to Kenya to see the work of E3 Initiative in action, and has been an advocate and supporter of our work ever since. Trevor is active within his local church at Causeway Coast Vineyard, is married to Sonya and has two grown-up daughters.

Dr Monique Andersson - Founder

Monique is a medical doctor who specialises in virology and HIV medicine. She has worked in the UK and South Africa where she was born and raised. Monique has seen the devastating impact of the HIV and AIDS pandemic on her native continent and co-founded iThemba AIDS Foundation (now E3 Initiative) to help provide an integral Christian response to the problem of HIV.

Andrew Davisson
 - Treasurer

Having graduated with a BSc First Class Honours in Statistics from The University of Bath, Andrew started his career with the global investment bank Salomon Brothers. He spent 17 years in the world's financial markets as a trader and investor and co-founded Strategic Asset Management Ltd (SAM), a Bermuda-based investment management company. In 1995 Andrew left SAM to pursue personal interests. He co-founded iThemba AIDS Foundation (now E3 Initiative). He has been married to Monique since 1994 and they have two daughters.

Andy Fearon

Andy is Cumbria born and bred and for many years he worked in the family business of market gardeners. Andy became a Christian in a Night Club in Carlisle at the age of 19. He went on to train at both Capernwray Bible School and International Christian College in Scotland. Andy has been involved with different aspects of Christian leadership for over 20 years. When working on staff at Causeway Coast Vineyard Church, Andy first met Tre, Trevor and Sinatra. His first trip to South Africa was in September 2013 and Africa is certainly now part of his heart. He leads Carlisle Vineyard with his wife Rhoda and they have two children.

Richard Meryon

After 30 years in the Royal Navy, during which he became a Christian, Richard was then called in 1999 to leave the Navy and head up Christian Vision for Men (CVM), encouraging and modelling outreach to men across Britain. After ten years, Richard moved on from CVM, and with his wife, Rosalind, directed the Garden Tomb in Jerusalem, an important historical and spiritual site. In 2015, they returned to the UK. In this ‘unsalaried era’ (Richard has an aversion to ‘retirement’ and ‘retreats’!), he has a portfolio of ministries, including helping Christian Iraqi refugees in Jordan to repatriate to a new country (hopefully the UK). They have three married grown-up children and five grandchildren.

Tre Sheppard

As the front man of the band Onehundredhours, Tre founded EngageHIVAIDS.com in partnership with iThemba AIDS Foundation. That partnership later became E3 Initiative. Tre is an advocate for the work and a fundraiser, as well as serving as a Trustee. He is a well-known speaker at events, including Soul Survivor, Summer Madness and New Wine. Based in Northern Ireland, Tre currently serves as the Teaching and Associate Pastor of Causeway Coast Vineyard and also works as a producer, songwriter, and a strategist/consultant for various clients in the music industry and business sector. Tre is married to Tori and they have a grown-up son and daughter.

Matt and Karen Glynn


Following a trip to South Africa and Kenya to see the work of E3 in 2011, Matt and Karen felt called to play a part and help direct the North American arm of E3 Initiative. Matt serves as Chair of the US Board. Matt and Karen own an electrical contracting firm that is known for integrity and quality work in Plymouth Ma, Salem NH, and Cranston RI. They attend the New Hope Chapel in Plymouth where they are very involved in building a new church on Joshua’s Way. Many of their interests lie in organizations for children. Currently they are in the process of building Music centers around the world in honor of their son, Joshua, who has relocated to Heaven. They hope to continue Josh’s dream to spread God’s love to those kids that cannot afford to be involved in Music in Africa, Haiti and locally in Massachusetts. The first of these centers is at the Boys and Girls clubs of Plymouth, where they are active on the Board. Matt and Karen have been married for over 40 years.

Tori Sheppard

Originally from Georgia, USA, Tori Sheppard came to the UK with her husband Tre in 1993. Based in Northern Ireland since 2006 with Tre and their two (now grown up) children, Tori is Associate Pastor at Causeway Coast Vineyard in Coleraine. She was one of the founders of the Factory Community with 'Youth with a Mission' England and toured worldwide with the band, Onehundredhours, for 12 years (singing and song writing). Tori has spent much of her life in ministry and mission. With a heart to see women and sustainable communities equipped and empowered, Tori is also on the International Advisory Board for Zimele Wethu (an E3 partner project) based in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

Elisabeth Ling


After 14 years as a GP in the UK, Lizzie moved to South Africa in 2004 to establish E3's work on the ground, developing partnerships with local organisations and helping to shape E3's identity in the early years. In 2011, she passed the baton to Sinatra who has so successfully developed what Lizzie began. Now back in the UK, Lizzie is a member of St Ebbe's Church in central Oxford, where she is also part of the staff team.

Benson Okyere-Manu


Benson is currently the Director of Newfrontier AIDS Trust (NAT) that he founded in 2005 and Director of the Community Care Project (CCP) which he co-founded in 1999, both with whom E3 has partnered in the past. He has worked in the field of HIV and AIDS since 1997 and also helped co-found the ESSA Christian AIDS Programme (ECAP) in 1998. He motivates churches, schools and communities around the world to get involved in the fight against the HIV pandemic. Benson developed the Development Track of the Evangelical Seminary of Southern Africa (ESSA) in 1998 and became the Development Studies Coordinator and lectured in the track from 1998 to 2004 and in 2011 became a visiting lecturer. Benson holds a BSc. Chemistry (Hons) (Ghana) and LTh, BTh (Hons), MTh, PhD (Theology and Development) (South Africa).
