Pastors Connect Ingwavuma (PCI)

Pastors Connect enables pastors in Ingwavuma (an isolated rural area in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa) to train together, support, encourage and learn from each other and collaborate on income-generating activities to help support their families while they serve in the church.

E3 partner, Lulisandla Kumntwana, applied for an E3 sustainability loan on behalf of PCI so three church leaders could set up a chick-rearing project.

  • They rear and sell one-day old chicks to supply to community poultry projects.

  • There are no other chick suppliers in the area so it’s a blessing to those who run poultry projects and used to struggle to get chicks at the right time.

  • They empower other pastors by giving them free chicks so they can set up their own poultry projects.

  • The business provides a steady income for the three church leaders, empowering them to support their families.

  • Part of the profits is donated to support orphaned and vulnerable children through Lulisandla Kumntwana and Isibani Sethemba’s Bible school.

The first batch of chicks, 1,790 fluffy little fellas, was ready in December 2024.

We’re especially grateful for the incredible blessing of acquiring the incubator and hatchery equipment at an unbeatable price from a generous local farmer.

Grant from E3: £1,818

E3 sustainability loan in 2025: £1,818

E3’s support in 2025 will boost the capacity of their machinery so they can rear 4,000 chicks in a 6 week cycle.
